Easy on the music! I always seek past the fluff so I can get to the stuff… and the stuff in this episode is pretty good 🙂
Good show. I love podcasts like this.
Really Joe,i think you would have pushed the silverlight RIA onslaught a lil bit further if u had used a silverlight player instead. But still i really do understand ur standpoint for using the flash player.Look forward to further to more episode.
Enjoyed the show – it’s good to hear that WebForms will be with us for a while, I don’t have time to learn MVC at the moment (poor excuse I know).
I have a question for you to put to Scott next time – Why is Dirty Checking so difficult in ASP.NET, especially when you throw an inline editable control like a GridView onto the page. It’s been a real headache in the past and although we have a workable solution I still feel that it is a little on the flakey side.
Looking forward to your next show – nice to hear from people so close to the coalface.
Great Idea Joe Us amateur novice wannabe’s need stuf like this I can’t learn without being taught Thanks
I haven’t listened yet, but I did want to comment on the MP3 file. The ID3Tags were not set, so when my podcatcher threw it into my podcasts folder, it didn’t show up with your title or name on it.

How about posting this podcast to iTunes?
Please address this on the show:
When will I be able to build ASP.NET forms and reports as easily as I can with Microsoft Access 2000? It’s been over 10 years and it seems that we should be able to do this by now. I have always wondered this. Please address it on your podcast. Thanks!
Jason
Jason, It IS easy. Please fell free to email me with your specifics.

Thanks for this podcast Joe! One of the first ones with this length that I actually listened to to the end. Hope there will be lots more to come. If I were to provide feedback, or rather a wish is for you guys to explain what the best practices are in the area you discuss. I think a lot of programmers are making it very hard on themselves by building something very complex unnecessarily. Again, thanks and keep it up!
Pretty good first podcast, Joe.
Food for thought:
1) Reduce intro music or at least have an intro dialogue during the music.
2)Get your podcast on iTunes and offer it similar to DotNetRocks, HanselMinutes, RunAsRadio, etc. I like their site design and how easy it is to listen or access archive copies.
3) The audio was pretty good, but some times Scott’s voice sounded like a little feedback or something where you could tell he wasn’t in the same room with you.
4) I liked the idea of submitting questions and doing the round-table with the ASP.NET team answering questions. Also liked the idea of just popping in and surprising them with Q&A, too.
5) I hope you do a lot more frequent podcast on a routine basis.
6) The length of podcast really doesn’t bother me since the pace of discussion was fast and direct. I can’t listen to StackOverflow any more because it’s just babble seems like they really don’t know what they want to discuss… So far, I think you’re in the top 5 of the ones I want to listen too…

Question was if we want .ascx files to be distributable, and the answer is yes – or similarly, why not make it able to convert ascx files into plain c# class as a native control, so it can be built into a distributable dll?
