Tanks Justin,

I like Terrill's sample of a custom player apart from any accessibility value. I must admit to being less in tune with accessibility issues than I should be but have experienced that building a custom player can have great user experience improvements.

Can you share any more specific data about Firefox's media controls as they pertain to accessibility concerns,

Thanks Again !
Joe

[Same comment as when this originally appeared on the Hacks blog... ;-)]

Custom controls should not be needed for accessibility in Firefox, we’ve spent a fair chunk of time making sure they work with ATs. If something’s broken or awkward, folks should definitely file bugs! (Ditto for other browsers, default controls with accessibility problems isn’t acceptable.)

The linked Terrill Thompson article was testing Firefox 3.6 (and I think was inaccurate even then, but I’d have to go back and test to be sure).

That's a great and complex question.

I'll see if I can come up with an example.

How can I can I securely store sensitive data on the client side (and ensure that the data cannot be recovered if the device is stolen)? I use a user supplied password and and a password based derivation function to encrypt the data into localstorage/IndexDB/Filesystem (I would probably not be able to use the full power of IndexedDB, though). Now I need to securely persist the password (or symmetric key) across pages (or use a single page): I could use session storage for this but browsers "may support resuming sessions after a restart" as per the spec so it might be saved on disk on browser shutdown/crash.
