In the 15 seconds it took to start this comment I’ve forgotten what the new name is – Soft something? Initech? My advice is this: if you are writing material for the purpose of securing business from a person who doesn’t understand developer culture, you Soft-whatever. Otherwise, stick with Misfit Geek. You have been a credit to the dev community and you should stake your claim on that legacy.

Once you pick an online identity, you gotta stick with it because that’s who people know you as.

Look at my online identity, Lord Bron. He was originally a character in a story I wrote in the 6th grade. Loved the character and name so much, I used him for my online identity.

Now, when I meet people in real life, I say, “Hey I’m Tom Ortega.” Several minutes into the discussion, I’ll say something and their eyes will light up, “Oh you’re Lord Bron!”

So, yeah, I’m with Adam. Don’t waste your brand. Nobody likes New Coke.
