My first job at Microsoft was as a developer evangelist.
The company I ran before I came to Microsoft did a great deal of “technical evangelism” for ASP, Java, Flash, and others.
And many of the folks who read my blog are “Technical Evangelists”, either as part of their job, or in their work with their developer community of choice.
So – I wanted to share this super (and free) eBook.

I love the part on “Remove the Brand”.
Hope you enjoy it !

Joe, I’d love to hear your thoughts on how I perceive Microsoft DEs: http://www.aspnetresources.com/…/bait_station_ah
Cheers!
Milan
I don’t necessarily disagree but I think you make an assumption that Evangelists endourse a technology becuase they are PAID to do so.
Most of Microsoft DEs were doing much of what they do before Microsoft paid them to do it – they become DEs becuase they already believe in the technology.
Persoanlly – I always saw being an Evangelist as an Advisor, and yes, there were times I recomended a solution not made by my employer.
A technical evangelist that doesn’t think the stuff they evangelize is the best out there should go work for the "other" guys.
Though I do admit that you can find Technical Evangelists out there that are more "Sales Dudes" than Tecnical Experts.
Joe, I attended a product launch at NYC several years ago where you did a session on something. Can’t remember exactly.
I think it was the Office 2003 launch.
Your presentation was one of the best ones I ever attended. It was fun, irreverent, and authentic; not a typical Microsoft sales pitch. Please keep it up!
Thansk Milan – I remember that event. The NYC crowd was FUN !!!
Is that means you come to Microsoft as a trainer?
Could you please help me who do i need to talk to?
im having trouble with visual studio 2008. My code compiles properly and runs in the ide but when i try to produce a release copy my beta testers are telling me it does not run.
what do i need to do to fix this or who do i need to talk to about this??
I feel this is not a problem to bring to a forum (i get a lot of people giving me incorrect or unrellevent informaion)
Thank you
