If you read my blog you know that I’m a Web Forms guy.
ASP.NET MVC is cool, fun, HIP even, but I’m going to keep working with Web Forms.
Still, I need to know about all the web stuff we build at Microsoft, so I’m doing some reading about ASP.NET MVC (even if only to improve my arguments with our MVC guy Stephen Walther
)
The KEY to this book is “Quickly”
Without the appendices the book is 191 pages. But there is allot of information in those 191 !
Appendix A is a reference application.
Appendix B deals with Testing and a Mock Framework
Appendix C is all recourses !
One of the nice thing about Packt is that they don’t publish “definitive guide”. Packt is to publishing as is Sniper to Military.
I highly recommend this a an ASP.NET MVC jump start.

Joe, I’m glad you said that, because I am definitely an ASP.NET Web Forms guy too! I was getting worried you were jumping ship.
I am a big fan of the Packt Publishing books as well; I recently reviewed their new MODx CMS book, and I reviewed their ADO.Net Entity Framework book, and I found them both to be exactly as you described; short, concise guides to get you up and running. Definitive references? Nope. Tell me what I need to know if a technology is right for my needs, and get me to the point where I need a definitive reference? Absolutely. What I appreciate the most about the Packt books, is that they are clearly writen by people who actually work in the real world, as opposed to the people who developed the technology or play with things to write about all day long.

Hey Joe, thanks for your review!
I agree. You want concise guides. Who wants to read 1800 pages from wrox with 15 heads on main page. I like you quick video Joe. These videos are much better than stupid 60 mins webcasts. Which nags for registration and enter e-mail and company info stupid every time.

Not being a US guy I think I don’t get the only personal comment of the post, which is "ackt is to publishing as is Sniper to Military."
