Reporting may not be “sexy” but it’s the meat and potato of every profitable business !
You could call Brian Bischof a “Crystal Wizard”.
Some time ago I listed one of Brian’s books in my asp.net/forums book picks but he hasn’t been resting on the success of his works.
Click on the books above to check them out on Amazon.com
I’m finding them REALLY useful as I’m building some web site reporting features.

Something about a "Double LP" on Crystal Reports kinda scares me ("but wait, you get more on Volume 2"). But thanks for the recommendation, I would have skipped this completely based on the covers. Would you recommend one of the volumes over the other?
Thanks- As to recomending one ovet the other….It depends on your esperience. Volume 1 is about using Crystal, Volume 2 is about PROGRAMMING with Crystal – I needed both
Joe, you don’t dogfood Reporting Services over there?
Yea, but there are many things SRS is too heavy for.
Thanks for the recommendation Joe!Just to clarify the difference between the two books. Volume 1 is for people who design their reports using the stand-alone version of Crystal Reports XI. This probably applies to less than 25% of the people reading this blog. Volume 2 is for people using Crystal Reports within Visual Studio .NET 2005 or 2008. All the screen shots were done using VS.NET 2008, but there are very few differences between the two versions. The first half of the book covers standard report design (grouping, subreports, record selection, etc). The second half is all code. It shows you how to use the ReportDocument object model to perform runtime report customization. I also put some very cool content that you won’t find anywhere else: advanced data connectivity (e.g. reporting off LINQ, object collections and DLLs), writing UFLs, and how to add javascript to report objects on ASP.NET pages for a much richer web experience. Also, if you don’t want to read the paperback version (or you live in a country that doesn’t carry the books), I have online versions of my books as well.
